Pirate Crayons

One of the Etsy stores our shopping script buys packages from is LL Crayon Creations, run by Stacie Gilpin from Florida. Our script has found that she has some of the most imaginative, durable and long-lasting crayons around.

Stacie told us about her shop… ” I started this company in March of 2018. My son who was 4 at the time had so many broken crayons I was throwing away so I decided to take them and make him new colorful crayons from molds.
I would make names for kids birthday parties at his preschool and they were a hit. So I decided to start a Etsy shop.

I enjoy making themes. From the personalized label to the paper in the box..Halloween, Easter, Christmas…I am all about the details. I love making a one of a kind gift for a child that will make them smile. I only use high quality crayola brand so they last and are safe for little hands. “

Old Time Caramels

One of the stores our shopping script buys packages from is Old Time Caramels on Etsy. The store is run by Vernon Palmer out of Tooele, Utah. Our script has found that it is one of the best sources online for good caramel individually packaged in small portions.

Vernon explained how he got started in the caramel business…

“Growing up, every Christmas my mom would make pecan rolls (she still does), which consisted of a pinoche center wrapped in caramel and covered with pecans. One Christmas while I was in college, my parents decided to spend three weeks in Italy, which meant that I wouldn’t be able to eat any of my Mom’s pecan rolls.

I decided to try and make them myself. I had a really hard time getting the pinoche to turn out right, but I was able to make the caramel. After a few attempts, I gave up on making the pecan rolls and just started making the caramel. As I shared them with family and friends, it was easy to see that they were a big hit.

Then one day I went to a party at my sister’s house and she had made a cinnamon caramel dip for dipping apples, which I really liked (I’m a big fan of cinnamon). That is where I got the idea of adding flavors to the caramels.

This was the beginning of the great experimentation of which flavors to add to the caramels, how much flavoring to add, what to wrap the caramels in, what temperatures to cook the caramels to, and so many other small details.”

Item Of The Day: Brew Your Own Cup Of Java

Is your neighborhood barista not good enough? Would you like to try growing you own coffee? Our script has found this listing on Etsy for Coffea Arabica beans.

Keywords: seed, garden, coffee, Etsy

From the Etsy seller…

It is also known as the “coffee shrub of Arabia”, “mountain coffee” or “arabica coffee”. Coffea arabica is believed to be the first species of coffee to be cultivated, being grown in southwest Arabia for well over 1,000 years. It is said to produce better coffee than the other major commercially grown coffee species, Coffea canephora (robusta), but tastes vary. C. arabica contains less caffeine than any other commercially cultivated species of coffee.

The fruit is a drupe (though commonly called a “berry”) 10–15 mm in diameter, maturing bright red to purple and typically contains two seeds (the coffee ‘bean’).

C. arabica produces small, white and highly fragrant flowers. The sweet fragrance resembles the sweet smell of jasmine flowers. When flowers open on sunny days, this results in the greatest numbers of berries. The berries are oblong and about 1 cm long. Inferior coffee results from picking them too early or too late, so many are picked by hand to be able to better select them, as they do not all ripen at the same time. They are sometimes shaken off the tree onto mats, which means that ripe and unripe berries are collected together.

Planting Instructions:

Peel the hulls off the seeds before planting so they can germinate.

Plant The coffee tree pepper requires rich soil, plenty of water, humid conditions, and partial shade. Plant seeds indoors 1/2″ deep. Keep soil moist and from drying out. Keep temperature between 80 and 85 degrees. Transplant in larger pots as seedling grows.

Germination: 60 days
